The South Asian Bar Association of New York (SABANY), in partnership with the New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA) and the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) Region II, will convene a forum entitled, "Justice & Communities of Color: A Civil Rights Forum with Manhattan District Attorney Candidates” on May 4, 2021 from 5:30pm-9:30pm. The forum will be held online and will be co-sponsored by a broad number of affinity bar associations that represent communities of color who live and work in Manhattan.

The event is non-partisan and all declared Manhattan District Attorney candidates were invited to attend and ALL candidates have accepted the invitation. This forum will be unlike any other the candidates have participated in because this is an opportunity for them to address communities of color who are disproportionately impacted by policing and prosecution. The candidates will be asked questions from a panel of experts who represent the broad diversity of the sponsoring bar associations. They are lawyers, community activists, advocates for incarcerated persons, professors, and others who are experts in civil rights, criminal justice, and related fields.
